Marketing Project Manager


Job Description: The Marketing Project Manager specializes in planning, managing and executing projects related to marketing campaigns. This role will develop processes and checkpoints that help track progress, identify bottlenecks, problem-solve, and ensure projects are completed on time and on a budget, improving information flow and reporting, along with the business process and organizational planning within the marketing department.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Project Management / Marketing Operations

  • Assist in the assignment of projects and routing of creative for approvals

  • Establish, update, and maintain project timelines

  • Drive projects through to completion

  • Manage the marketing budget and maintain regular financial tracking, including submitting and recording purchase requests.

  • Extract and prepare data for marketing analytics reporting.

  • Lead special projects within the marketing operations team

  • Provide feedback and proactively identify opportunities to improve internal processes

  • Facilitate inter-departmental communication.

  • Identify, form recommendations, and procure outside resources as needed.


Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Proofread/edit a variety of marketing materials for grammar, accuracy, and brand voice

  • Provide fallback support for email marketing

  • Evaluate email requests, route and initiate project creation

  • Work with colleagues from Marketing and other departments to gather message requirements (copy, graphics, audience lists, etc.)

  • Provide fallback website support

  • Execute basic search engine optimization (SEO) updates to ICA’s websites. Including but not limited to content development implementation, page title, and meta description optimization, image optimization, etc.

  • Execute various website updates. Including but not limited to: event creation, program updates, various content and image updates, etc.

  • Provide administrative support as needed.

Frequent contacts: VP Strategic Communications and Engagement, IT, Director of Marketing, Director of Digital Media, Arts Directors, Executive Director of Interlochen Presents, Director of ICCA, Director of Engagement, Engagement Events Manager, Executive Dean of Enrollment Management, Admission, Advancement


External: Marketing Vendors


Knowledge and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, communications, journalism, marketing, public relations or similar program and a minimum of five years experience. Strong project management and organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to successfully manage numerous projects simultaneously, excellent interpersonal skills, and proven marketing acumen. Experience with Salesforce, Google Analytics, Google Data Studio, marketing automation/email marketing platforms, project management tools, Drupal or another website CMS beneficial. Demonstrated success in partnering with campaign/program managers to deliver effective marketing campaigns. An effective collaborator who knows how to work with various types of people to accomplish the task at hand. The role requires the ability to think creatively and develop innovative solutions, with a proactive, self-starter mentality.


Work Environment: Seated office/computer work. Frequent contact with other employees. Must be able to effectively communicate with others both written and verbally.  Some after-hours or weekend work may be required.
